Salary: Six-Figure Package
The Opportunity
PSD Group is working with an established, highly regarded organisation seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Facilities Compliance & Risk to take ownership of its property-related compliance, risk management and operational assurance activities.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a professional, multi-stakeholder corporate environment, offering considerable responsibility for establishing robust governance, improving operational standards and ensuring that buildings, people and service providers operate within an effective compliance framework.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, commercially aware approach and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The successful individual will be responsible for:
- Leading the organisation’s approach to property-related statutory compliance, health and safety, operational risk and governance.
- Developing and maintaining effective compliance frameworks, reporting systems, policies and procedures.
- Overseeing business continuity planning, workplace security, emergency preparedness and incident management.
- Establishing and managing structured audit programmes, building risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Ensuring appropriate investigation, escalation and reporting of incidents, including statutory reporting requirements.
- Reviewing contractor management arrangements, including safe systems of work, permits, inductions, compliance documentation and performance monitoring.
- Providing expert advice to senior stakeholders on regulatory obligations, emerging risks and operational improvements.
- Overseeing environmental performance reporting and supporting the development of effective sustainability-related processes.
- Working closely with internal teams and external service partners to ensure consistent standards of service delivery.
- Supporting property projects, workplace changes and refurbishment programmes from a compliance and risk perspective.
- Leading, developing and motivating a team, promoting accountability, continuous improvement and a collaborative working culture.
- Identifying opportunities to improve management information, reporting systems and technology supporting compliance and operational performance.
Candidate Requirements
We are interested in speaking with experienced facilities, property compliance and operational risk professionals who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience in a senior facilities compliance, health and safety or property risk management role.
- A strong understanding of statutory building compliance, workplace health and safety and relevant UK legislation.
- Experience of developing and implementing compliance frameworks, governance procedures and audit programmes.
- Knowledge of business continuity, incident management, workplace security and emergency response arrangements.
- A proven ability to manage and challenge outsourced facilities service providers and contractors.
- Experience leading teams and influencing stakeholders across complex organisational structures.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical operational solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to advise and challenge senior management.
- A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience, with CMIOSH membership particularly desirable.
- A proactive, pragmatic approach, combining strategic oversight with a willingness to become involved in operational detail.
- Experience gained within complex corporate headquarters, commercial property portfolios, financial services, professional services or similarly demanding workplace environments would be particularly relevant.
The Individual
This opportunity will suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a broad compliance and risk function rather than operating solely as a technical health and safety specialist.
You will be confident working with senior decision-makers, capable of improving established processes and experienced in balancing regulatory obligations with the operational requirements of a busy organisation.
Strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to build effective relationships with both internal colleagues and external service providers will be essential.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to play an influential role within an established organisation, with the scope to shape compliance strategy, strengthen governance and deliver meaningful operational improvements.
The appointment offers a broad remit, senior stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to lead an important function within a high-quality corporate property environment.
