My client, a leading global retail and investment bank, is looking to appoint a Director of Strategic Sourcing to lead complex sourcing initiatives across Banking Services and Technology.

This is a high-profile leadership position with significant visibility across the organisation, partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver commercial value, drive innovation and strengthen third-party relationships across some of the bank’s most critical spend categories.

The Opportunity

Technology continues to redefine banking. From cloud transformation and AI to digital platforms, infrastructure modernisation and strategic outsourcing, procurement has become a genuine driver of business performance.

As Director, you’ll develop and execute sourcing strategies across Banking Services and Technology, ensuring the bank continues to maximise value while effectively managing risk, supplier performance and regulatory requirements.

You’ll work on strategic programmes with global reach, leading commercial negotiations with some of the world’s largest technology providers and professional services organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies across Banking Services and Technology.
• Lead complex sourcing programmes from strategy through to contract execution.
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Finance, Risk and the wider business.
• Deliver measurable commercial value through strategic sourcing, supplier optimisation and innovative commercial models.
• Lead high-value negotiations with global technology vendors and strategic service providers.
• Drive supplier performance, governance and ongoing commercial management.
• Ensure sourcing activity aligns with regulatory expectations, operational resilience and third-party risk frameworks.
• Coach and develop sourcing professionals while contributing to the continued evolution of the procurement function.

About You

You’ll be an accomplished procurement leader with experience operating in a complex, highly regulated environment.

You’ll bring:

• Significant strategic sourcing experience within banking, financial services or a leading procurement consultancy.
• Strong expertise across Technology sourcing, Banking Services or both.
• A proven ability to lead large, complex sourcing programmes involving multiple executive stakeholders.
• Experience negotiating high-value technology, outsourcing and managed service agreements.
• Strong commercial judgement and excellent influencing skills.
• The ability to engage confidently with senior executives and challenge constructively where required.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing procurement teams.
