PMO Lead – Technology Transformation Programme (2 year FTC)
A major UK organisation in the transport sector is seeking an experienced PMO Lead to support a large, multi‑year technology transformation programme. This role will work closely with the Programme Manager to establish and operate robust portfolio governance, ensure high‑quality reporting, and maintain strong delivery controls across a complex change environment.
The PMO Lead will play a central role in shaping programme discipline, driving consistency across workstreams, and ensuring senior stakeholders have clear, accurate visibility of progress, risks and dependencies. This is a key leadership position within a high‑profile transformation initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and continuously improve programme and portfolio governance frameworks.
- Define standards, controls, reporting cycles and assurance processes.
- Lead programme‑level reporting, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with executive requirements.
- Maintain RAID management standards, enabling proactive mitigation and issue resolution.
- Coordinate planning cycles, integrated schedules, dependency mapping and change controls.
- Ensure adherence to organisational governance policies and audit expectations.
- Provide PMO leadership across a multi‑workstream technology transformation environment.
- Support financial reporting, benefit tracking and supplier governance activities.
- Embed a culture of PMO best practice and continuous improvement.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Significant experience leading PMO functions within large‑scale transformation programmes.
- Strong background in establishing governance frameworks, reporting structures and delivery standards.
- Experience working in transport, safety‑critical or complex operational environments (desirable).
- Skilled in portfolio reporting, dashboarding and assurance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Robust understanding of RAID, planning, dependency management and risk frameworks.
- Experience driving PMO maturity and embedding best practice.
This is a fixed term contract for the duration of the programme which is likely to be a minimum of 2 years. The role will be based in London with ideally 4 days per week working with the programme team. Candidates will need to be available to start in the next 4 weeks. You need to be authorised to work in the UK.
